The Howard-Oldfield family has been farming in Morgan County, KY for over 100 hundred years. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t ready to try something new. Last year Ashley Oldfield and her husband John experimented with planting half an acre of pumpkins. They sold some to the local IGA and a few places in White Oak. The pumpkins were such a hit that they decided to grow five acres this year, of all different varieties. And thus began the White Oak Pumpkin Barn on the family farm where they’ve been giving hay rides and tours and hosting school groups all season. We visited the patch, to see how the whole operation works.
